Hi! i have done a fair bit of fly fishing on lakes ect but not in sea/shore, was just wondering what time it kicks off on hampshire/dorset coast. is it around april/may? or is it possible from now?

well yeah.. you'd have to be missing a few hundred brain cells to fish at the moment. last week i was catching schoolies from local beach only 20-30 feet out and was thinking once the weather sorts itself out i might get the fly gear out!

Hi Donny,..........late reply, only just read your post.
I've never had much luck on a fly until June....If you want some local venues -

In summer, over at the beach huts at Hengestbury good for schoolies. The Stour from Tucton Bridge down to harbour, good for Bass & mullet.
Beaulieu River & Estuary for Bass & Mullet.

Mullet are great fighters on a fly rod! I've had several over 4lb from the Stour at Tucton.

BTW the Stour and top part of Christchurch harbour are catch & release....part of it is run by Sembcorp & the top part at Tucton is Ringwood A.C. You can get tickets at Davis Tackle at Barrack Rd.
From the line of yellow buoys at the top of the harbour to the Quay is free
