Hi there,

I am off to my folks place next weekend in Polruan and am planning on taking my boat down with me.

I've not fished the area before so I was wondering whether anyone knows of any decent marks close to the Fowey estuary.

I have a 16' Faulkland Fisher with a 50HP outboard so range is a little limited.

Any help much appreciated.

Cheers,
Andrew

Hi andrew some superb reefs either side of the harbour holding some nice pollock . Trouble is the whole area is a bass nursery so no take zone . There are a couple of nice areas up the river towards the recording studio and along golant for flounders on a drifted spoon and just past the boddenick ferry mid river for conger. Good luck and dont forget to let the forum know how you get on .

To the West off Gribbin Head is a reef - take care as it comes to the surface and there can be large and unexpected waves. There are good bass and pollack there. If you head into the beach to the East of the head and drift/slow troll out along the edge of the reef. Pollack will take lures, feathers or bait.

There is a small wreck in line with the estuary and Gribbin about half way - locals might give you the mark.

Tackle bait on Fowey side where the chain ferry goes in!

Hi Folks,

Got back on Friday and had a great week fishing/relaxing down there.

I went bassing in the bay and managed to catch nothing but small pollack on sand eel, go figure???

I took the boat out over that small wreck in the bay (got the GPS from a dive site) and had a great time catching some decent Pollock, the best of which was around the 6lb mark (at a guess). They were great fun on a 12lb rod with braid.

Thanks for all your help, no Bass but the Pollock made up for it.

Andrew
