Hi Guys.

Has anyone got a copy of the Glasgow Angling Centre Catalogue which was in last months Sea Angling Mag?

If so, on page 8 there is a Full Monty Beach Combo for sale at £89:99 do you think it is worth getting?

Cheers as always.

for the price and the amount you get i would imagine it would be ideal for a complete beginner and nothing else. you never know though some of the cheap gear is actully very good for the money.

Hi Wayne. The same setup is avalible online too: http://www.fishingmegastore.com/-full-monty-beach-combo~6258.html

To be honest it doesn't look all that, i'm sure it is a great starter kit as it has pretty much everything you need bar bait to start fishing. Certain things are really cheaply produced and i'm sure would fall apart in no time, like the rucksack and chair - which you dont really need imo anyway. It is tempting because you get all the leads and rigs with it which are an expensive and a neccessity part of sea fishing...

Probably the best thing to do is buy quality gear in bits and pieces as and when you can afford them in order of importance.
Also rig making is alot of fun and saves you a fortune, just buy a few decent different types of rigs and copy them and improve them to adapt to your fishing needs :)

I bought one of the fisheagle atlas bass rods a while back mate, avoid them like the plague they are cheap blanks, really soft. You'd be better of buying a better rod reel and bits yourself IMHO

Thanks Guys. Once again you have saved me a small fortune.

I have about £100 to spend on a Beach Caster Rod & Reel Combo with Line. Any ideas?

Once again a big thank you.

My mate has this rod: http://www.fishingmegastore.com/shimano-alivio-surf-rod~5912.html

Don't be fooled by the 'beginner' bit in the description, my mate bought it as a second rod and now uses it alongside his Anyfishanywhere rod, I have seen it in action and its a nice piece of kit. Not sure about the reel option thats with it but Lineaeffe aren't a bad mid range brand (Ithink they may actually be made by Leeda?)

Sonik SK3 and a Shakespeare Salt Surf Fixed Spool Reel, used once they were £170 but could have been yours for £85 would have done ya great Wayne, :hammer: sorry but ya missed the sale by a couple of days mate. Never mind though just you keep ya eyes peeled on the for sale sections mate as there is always one or two bargains pop up now and again. Dont forget about them two rods my mates got for sale, either one of them will be ok for you to fish with, I'll ask him what rods they are and you can ask the lads on here for their opinion, dont think he has a reel for sale though.

Hi Codbasher mate. Thanks for asking your mate. I was hoping you would not say it would be for a Multiplier. For some reason i don't seem to be able to use a Multiplier Reel. But, When my cash come's, and if he still has it, i will get it (if i have the cash after getting another one)
and learn how to fish with the reel.

Once again thanks mate. Your help means a lot to me.
