i am out this weekend fishing,and would like to have some fun catching some garfish dont care what size,just be nice to catch some for the first time this year,any ideas where might be to give it a try any help would be grateful cheers.

i would start with a float, fished about 3 to 6ft deep, try small sandeel or small strips of mackerel for bait, good luck.

use a groundbait that breaks up on the surface with mashed or small bits of fish in it... I use a 5 or 6ft trace from the top of the float with no weight on it so it is high in the water great fun watching the takes.

im using a washing line rig from http://www.moonfleet-angling.com/index.html , a great bit of kit fished with think strips of mackerel belly around foot under the surface but groundbaiting before as tides going out draws the garfish in . take a look highly recommend , a must for your tackle box
