Keep asking questions and get yourself known on the forums, this one and others that are about "anglers" and being "afloat" and you may find someone near you who will be able to let you try their kayak... if you are ever up in Scotland... ;)

Great post and although a lot of the links don't work i'm sure people can work out how to use google search anyway (although google does miss out a lot of good shops with good prices)

one question i have is how you use the anchor chain you described to 'slowly drift'? Does it not just dig in and stop you or get snagged? I'm just getting started using the anchor so still learning with it. So far i've not fitted a piece of chain as i haven't found it necessary, what does the chain actually do?
The chain adds weight helps set anchor and saves wear, tip secure the line/chain to the anchor as per photo so you can trip it if it gets jammed .
