Started the session at 3pm. Just after low water. Trying out new rods for first time. Seeing if new rods would bring me luck,in my elusive search of Rays, Sandeel on to an up and over.chucked to about 100yrds. Big lump of Rag wrapped in squid onto a dropper rig on second rod. Sort all the gear out making things tidy. Look up and the sandeel is moving down tide. Now unless it had suddenly been rencarnated. Figure this can only mean good things. Wound down gentle strike. And sure enough there is weight at the end. Fish kiting to the left and occationally topping. At last a Ray...Oh how i have been trying for one of these. No monster at about 3lb,but very very welcome. And the Zippy is christened on it's first cast. I was happy. Rebaited recast hoping their were more to be had. But unfortunately not whiting and dogs made up the rest of the evenings captures, but even on big baits the whiting were hanging themselves. Lad up the beach came running over with a fish for id purposes. A nice little Codling. So seems to be plenty of fish around, noticed an increase in weed some fresh green stuff and the usual gorilla pubes. Good night on the whole, other than the loss of another 4 rigs. I do appear to have the ability to find those snags with relitive ease. Costing me a bloody fortune. Thats 13 complete rigs in 3 sessions. But would i do it again. You bet your ass i would.

If he claimed the one he showed me was 3 or 4 lb then the Ray i had must of been a 40 i estimated his at 3/4 of a pound and i'm being generous . Youthful optimisum i think. As for new borns gotta be honest i ain't got a clue.
