Looking for a good strong low diameter mono for over all shore fishing ? Preferably will cast a long way and create enough confidence to bring in decent sized fish ? Thanks.
Interesting mate, I have learnt something today. Did know mono glugs up water! Does the water stay in the mono, or it drys out when the reel is not used.hypersensor isnt bad , tbh tho go for a copoly otherwise mono just glugs up water and weakens
That's a new one on me., Ive never heard of nylon absorbing water.hypersensor isnt bad , tbh tho go for a copoly otherwise mono just glugs up water and weakens
Sorry mate, I am still not following,Wet knot strength ?i wouldnt think it either .defo lower bs after been in the drink coply is better . Flouro coated ok when new . Floro dont seem to change
I dare say theory says it dont
I always thought that was because it got stretched past it's limit and doesn't return anymore so therefore it loses it's stretch and becomes brittle just my idea on it I've had several lines do this after pulling out of a snag I was unable to tie a leader knot without it snapping when tightening it down.i dont think it degrades just seems weaker once been in water .
when i used to use mono especially reduced dia stuff i always found if i snagged and lost the gear it always was a bitch to get a strong leader knot again , one of the reasons i ended up using copolys .
And no it werent my bad knot tying .:confused2::nutswinger:, have you ever found the same ?
I recently got into making acetal lures and theres a lot of that which is also hydroscopic , youd never think a rock hard bit of plastic would absorb water either
seems plausible however i can tie the knots ok with copoly after breaking off so i always assumed it was the water weakening it,I always thought that was because it got stretched past it's limit and doesn't return anymore so therefore it loses it's stretch and becomes brittle just my idea on it I've had several lines do this after pulling out of a snag I was unable to tie a leader knot without it snapping when tightening it down.
