Hello There
I am coming up to see my pal in Leith this weekend and we thought we would go fishing on Saturday night. In the past we have fished Thorntonloch beach next to Torness, but as its forecasting a North Easterly wind for Saturday I don't know if that would be a good mark for Saturday night. Any advice on good places to fish that are driveable from Edinburgh where we won't need heavy duty rock-fishing gear would be much appreciated.

I was thinking of bringing some frozen black lug and live rag worm with me.

Many thanks

Andy

You could try Tyningham - the river for flatties or the seaward side for the chance of something else - though it's been a bit hit and miss the past few years.

Thanks. I was thinking that Tyningham looked like a good spot. It lookss quite sheltered.

It depends on time really. I'm quite tempted to drive up to Arbroath if I can get up North quick enough- I hear its great and have never fished there.

Unfortunately April/May on the east coast can be very quiet.

Most of the winter cod are offski and the other fish are just filtering back in - though with the mildish weather, who knows?

Tyninghame is quite open - so I would advise a brolly or shelter.

If there is any wind at all the sand starts to swirl up and ends up in every crevice of your body - never mind the fishing tackle :eek:hmy:

Hi Cyclops

Have a look at:
http://www.mikes-seamarks.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/
and
http://www.scottishshoreangler.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/

for local marks and reports

There are plenty beaches right on the doorstep at portobello, joppa, gullane etc
or if you are after mixed ground fishing North Berwick and Dunbar/Belhaven both offer clean beach and rough ground marks in close proximity.

Would happily show you a few marks myself but i'll be away watching Man City beat Newcastle United (he hopes!) on Saturday

Tight lines and let us know how you get on.
