off out tonight with my brother (garyheaney) to fish low water on grasslot scar, armed with peeler crab, king rag, blow lug, i'll post a report with the results tomorrow.

thanks lads, just got back in 4am, what a session we had! here goes went down on the scar got there sea was flat calm not a breath of wind set up and casted in first in to the action was gary with a small eel, then i caught a codling about 1 and a half pounds, shortly after that gary pulled in a nice schoolie of about the same size, tide was flying in, shortly after we had moved back 200 yards or so the big ones come out to feed, :yeah: i pulled 2 bass of about 5 to 6 pounds in weight one right after the other! then gaz was in to a fish which was an eel! then by this time we were on the sand fishing onto rough to mixed ground then gaz caught a nice bass of 2 and a half pounds, shortly after that i had a fish on out came another codling, by this time the water started to have a bit of depth and not far from the rocks at the top of the beach, then i had another 2 bass of about 2 to 3 pounds, then the action stopped near high water but all in all was a great night hope theres many more to come, might go back out in the week, all bass but one were caught on king rag, other one took blow lug, codling were also caught on king rag too, didn't have anything on crab!

A Cracking session Lads - Gives me some hope after 10 hours fishing for 3 eels nice to see the cod are in as well.
Can I ask was the peeler frozen.. I've had nowt on frozen peeler this year dun OK with fresh but nowt with frozen?

hello marra, yeah we were using fresh and frozen crab had nothing on either! blow lug was what caught the first fish, the king rag was the top bait, using the big worms of about 12 to 15 inches in lenght and bigger which was getting hit not long after being in the water,

Cheers Marra - For me most successful sessions of this year were with big fresh lug and fresh mussel cocktail..
Fish baits have been poor and since the molt finished last time.. peelers even the odd fresh one have dun nothing... Got a theory that if there isn't a peeler molt in progress then fish aren't expecting crab
Think I'll be digging some rag and trying it alongside the lug for my next session at the weekend.
