Hi all,

I will be visiting the Lizard area in three weeks time and would be grateful of any suggested marks, bait and techniques for shore fishing around the Lizard.
I am very new to sea fishing and all advice/information would be welcome. I will be staying at Kennack Sands and have both a beachcasting and spinning outfit. I have no specific requirement for species type and am really looking for a few fun days or nights shore fishing.

Also, last year on a similar visit I ventured out on a boat fishing trip from Porthleven. The trip was fantastic fun and I was looking for suggestions for other local sea trips.

I would be grateful for any and all suggestions, thanks for taking the time to read.

Hi Dean,

I live in Porthleven, and have a boat here so don't do any shore fishing, but I have quite a few shore/beach fishing mates and they tell me that the western side of The Lizard is fishing quite nicely at the moment. Ok you're staying in the estern side, but the same is proabaly true. In particular, I'm told that Poldhu and Gunwalloe are god spots at the moment, as is Loe Bar, a bit further round towards Porthleven, and a few bass have bee caught from Porthleven pier this year. The two chater boats are still operating out of Porthleven, Starfish and Danda but why not try for a trip out of Falmouth and get out to The Manacles - monster fishing there!! Not a great deal of help, except to report that The Lizard shore fishing scene is quite lively at the moment apparently, but if you do get to my neck of the woods look out for the boat Seabird and if you see me messing about on her come over and have a chat.............

Cheers
Peter

Thanks for the reply Peter,

It was in fact the Danda I went out on before.

I will bear the information in mind, maybe give Loe Bar a try and the pier at Porthleven. The Manacles sound like they're worth a try as well.

I'm down there for the first two weeks in August and will keep an eye out for you.

Thanks again

Dean
