For some inexplicable reason as I drove past Hampton Jetty this lunchtime with my 6wt in the back (after a spot of blob lobbing at Tenterden a week ago) I thought to myself "I know, what I should be doing now, instead of work, is standing off those rocks as it begins to rain and see if I can get completely soaked for two hours, try and double haul into a swirling wind for an hour, pierce my ear with a clouser and then go home".

Luckily I managed to do all of it. And just as I headed back to the car a couple of friendly mackerel jumped about half way up along the rocks to wish me good bye.

Every year I swear I will never bother at Hampton ever again.
