Has anyone tried opening up a Hart Ace fixed spool. Looks like a specialist tool is needed to get the side plates off.

Loads thanks. Id never have guessed that the sides had opposite threads.
I just nned tyo open it up enough to pack the inside with grease.
Dont like the idea that hed used mole grips and snaped something off.

No problem, and yeah he's not that gentle in how he's treating the reel.
