Guys

saw these solid egg shaped floats by Ragot - their called Ballrags, weigh 30g and float - apparently they can be used to add weight to lures, poppers, plus etc so a lightweight can be cast further. Has anyone used them for this and if so do they work well?

I'vew used the spirolino type rather than the balrags but would echo Pugs's comment about the types of lures that they're good with. Unweighted soft plastics, flies or rubber eels are OK, lugs, weighted shads ans spoons that have weight of their own are prone to tangles.

Ok, thanks for the info - here's a bit more: at the moment my lightest rod is 1-3oz - do you think the balrag + light lure will work adequately for plugging etc with this rod or should I forget the balrag and save up for a lighter weight purpose designed spinning rod (1/2 - 2oz ish) - if so what would you recommend up to the £80 mark?
