Hi guys............. Looking for a good head torch. Flood and spot beam either rechargeable or not. Only criteria is that I don't want wires or separate battery back.
Thanks all

Don't think your going to get a quality head light without a separate battery pack . I would recommend a fenix hp11 with a good set of rechargeable batteries

Hey m8, I've never had the money to invest in an expensive headtorch so I've had a string of disappointing cheapies. But I bought one from argos last year for about £15 and I've been really happy with it. Can remember the model number but it's an energizer. It takes tripple A's, has a good bright light and lasts a long time. So worth a punt if you don't have much to spend. All the best

Up until last year i had four years of wearing head torches for work, every day all day, after a few cheap ones i ended up buying an LEDLenser which took AAA batteries, it was great, so much better than the previous cheap ones i'd tried, that torch is still going strong after 3 years and i've just bought another rechargable one, just as good! The big issue for you is that it has a battery pack, sorry. Another plus point is that it only has the elasticated band rather than having the strap across the top of your head, the simple headband is pretty tangle proof and doesn't need adjusting if you need to wear extra hats or over a hoody for example.

Dont waste your money on an LED headlamp that uses AAA cells, that size of cell dont last for long enough. I use a headlamp with a 3 watt Cree and the cells are the larger AA type, lasts ages with the cheapo 'copper' coloured batteries from aldi. I have used the lamp in all conditions, I fished (blanked) through the several weeks of recent storms with no problems in heavy rain and wind. It only cost £12 !!
