There are 2 fish pictured .. the top one is a (very small) ballan wrasse that I caught at the mumbles.

The bottom fish I caught in cornwall (in fact about half a dozen to about 1.5lb).. at first I thought it might also be a ballan wrasse but with different coloration due to living in the kelp. Now I'm not so sure .. the head looks more elongated and the dorsal fin more rounded. Can anyone shed any light on this ?

Sorry the images are so small ..

I'd say the top fish looks more like a corkwing and the bottom fish more like a ballan.

I have caught Pollack with similar colouring to the bottom fish, there is a lot of kelp around where I caught them, Marloes!

Cheers all ! After checking out the Sea Fish Index site i'm going to have to agree with Rob. Although I was wrong I am happy as I now have another species under my belt ;-)
