Can anyone tell me if there is anywhere near Watford in Hertfodshire that sells sea baits like Ragworm etc. I have only just started sea fishing and so far had to make do with makeral and some pre packed bait bought from the internet without much luck.
I have seen bait companies advertised on the internet for fresh bait which require you to be at home at a given time but due to work and never knowing where I am going to be day to day I can not commit to this. I therefore need to find somewhere to pick up my bait locally to home as I pressume it will not keep for to long.

Any help greatfully received.

Andy why not phone a local tackle shop and book bait the day before you want to go fishing?

It works for me.:)

Do you mean local to the coast , if so time for fishing must be dictated by opening times of the tackle shop or do you mean local to you (assuming you also are not near the coast)?
If it is the latter of these I did not realise or think that a shop predominantly geared to coarse angling would be able to obtain sea baits without contract to a specialist supplier (hope I'm wrong as it would make life a lot easier) for someone who unfortunately will not be on the beach that often.
I will however give my local tackle shops a go and see what happens, thanks again for the reply.

If you ever decide to fish Anglesey or the North Wales Coast, Lleyn penninsula, then give Malcom a ring and book whatever bait you want. The Anglesey bait centre is at gallows Point just a mile West of Beaumaris, approximately 4 miles from the Brittania Bridge (A55) He's open EVERY Friday and Saturday 'til 2 and 3 in the morning to supply bait etc. to those who are just arriving for fishing. Now that is service! You'll also get an up-to-date, comprehensive, report on local fishing and any tackle you might want.

Hi Andy

I too have had the same problem, living in herts, used to get it from dons of edmonton, and simpsons of tunford, dont think dons do live seabaits anymore,
poss simpsons still do, but do have a good supplier about a hours drive, he has at most times good lugworm, and ragworm, 7 days a week, other baits as well,
he is in lachington on the b1018, about another 1/2 hours drive from there you have Bradwell Waterside, bit of a beach there opp the baffles, onthe Blackwater,or again another 1/2 hours drive you have burnham on crouch, may be usefull if you fancy a session at short notice, please dont ring him too late in the evining as he wont be a happy chappy, fairdoos eh

his name is froggy
