Can remember going Herring fishing with my dad when I was a kid (about 35 years ago). We were after herring as he loved them and I'm pretty sure we went to Loch Fyne.

Are they still about and when's the best time to go after them.
I did a search in the forum, but the only time herring seems to come up is when its getting used for bait lol...

I've had them recently from the Mull of Galloway in the boat and the odd one in Luce Bay and around the Port Logan area.

Sadly, they are a thing of the past in the upper Clyde.

ahhh the good old days far and few between nowadays the last place i caught any was off the shore at portpatrick that was a good few years ago.

I had two small ones out in Luce Bay two weeks ago. They were swimming with the mackerel shoals
