Had a go south of withernsea , there was a good sea on with large breakers coming in.
Fished with crab and squid cocktails, had a small codling second cast. Nothing for hours after that, then had a nice thornback around 11pm, weighed at 4lb 6oz, so it wasn't a completely wasted trip.
No sign of any bass but a couple of anglers fishing further down caught something silvery that looked like a bass, couldn't see properly. Might have had one if I'd fished the ebb, perhaps
Will try further up the coast next week on the bigger tides
