holidayadvice for portland bill

Hi guys
I am spending a week 18/25 April in a cottage right on the end of Portland Bill. It's a birthday gift from the missus so I will have to let her tag along so can only take a limited amount of gear.
I thought of taking a light beach rod and a lure rod plus terminal tackle and reels of course. I assume I can buy bait thus avoiding carting my digging gear along.
Any advice re bait suppliers, marks to grab a couple of hours here and there, day or night much appreciated as would the whereabouts of a decent pint and the best chippy

Thanks in advance

well i have just came back from a week fishing portlandbill/ chesil... chesil you can forget as its terrible fishing atm so id stick to portland, you could do with a medium to rough ground rod as the sea bed has changed and is now pretty snaggy maby even more snaggy than before... you can catch wrasse all day long on portland bill all around the ledges of pulpit rock their are loads their atm i had 18 all over a lb some in to the 2 and 3lb on the bottom last week in 2 hrs fish an hr before low water then you can get away with nearly 3hrs after low after that the tide is running to hard and so you will have to move to one of the cranes on the other side of portland just be warned on the east side under churchope cove and chine the ground is very badly damaged and most ofthe rock ledges and cliffs are about to drop so be careful where you go and walk... regarding bait chesil bait n tackle is the place to go he has some real nice ragworm in atm perfect for wrasse, rays fish and chip shop as you go through portland is cheap and is the best ever... if you take a lure rod and fish the point on the bill you should get plenty of pollack on white side winder lures in 4 inch best to do that as dusk and a high tide... check out Want to know how, where and when to catch it?
