For you match anglers the Holyhead Open is on 28th Aug fishing 1-5 paying in from 11. Its being fished on a catch an release system this year,all fish over 20cm doggies count as 50cm,huss and conger to be measured by a club official before release,it is pegged.Entry is£10,superpool £3,longest fish £2. :)

could possibly fish this but never fished this area, what species are caught and what bait and tactics, normally fish south wales matches so any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Hi Seymor fish Its usually won with a mixed bag ,good sized pollack,pouting and doggies and ballans are the fish to target but the break can throw anything up from congers to poorcod.Some pegs are quite snaggy and most pegs have a shelf caused by its founations at about 50-70yrds.Past this distance its clean but you have to give it a bit to get your fish up and over it.Most people will fish simple 3 hook pat clipped .Have afew rottenbottom systems incase you draw a bad spot.Baits are Mackerel,eel,rag and peeler.Fish a long leader incase you have to hand line a fish up the wall.
