Will be trying for the bass off chesil soon and have heard macky head and entrails leave good scent and are a good bait for the bigger bass. How do hook these babies up? Only ever used worm and mcky strips before.

Also heard it's pretty much a done thing catching macky with feathers at chesil. Is it really so easy

Put the hook through the head from the bottom so that the hook point comes out of the top of the head. You will need at least a size 4/0 so the point isn't masked.

As far as catching them off Chesil goes, One of the WSF members, Barry Robson, is in last months issue of Sea Angler catching them off Chesil. Good read.

Going to Chesil myself soon. Can't wait.

Welcome to the site by the way.

Rob.

grand, thanks for the info. Wasn't sure if I needed some super duper pennel rig and trebles etc the options seemed endless and simplicity is often best..

My occassional sea trips are usually down to durdle door or to the rocks off the gower peninsular. Will be a first time off chesil...

thanks for welcome. :)
