Went down to the groyne by the Meeting Place Cafe today at high tide thought there would maybe a chance of some bass close in. Was far too windy and weedy. Managed about 4 casts.

Went back down at low tide without the rod to have a look around. Terrain looked pretty nondescript. Couldn't really see any fishy looking features.

So I was wondering... Has anyone fished around there before? Any tips or knowledge of what's out there/what I might expect to catch from there (if anything)? Also, any ideas if the beaches west of the Palace/Brighton Pier are usually worth a punt or do the beaches east fish better?

Any pointers gratefully received

cheers

J

The beaches change constantly, and likewise the hotspots tend to shift. Its a good idea with the monster springs to get down for a beach walk. The fish holding areas do make themselves known. Most of our beaches have a bit that is well worth a go, but a lot of anglers simply go to places with some reputation based on its historical reputation for throwing up fish. But often, the reason for these catches has either gone, or slid a few hundred yards along the beach, where hardly anyone fishes. A beach walk on a monster spring will reveal all!!
