There are also little plastic gadgets that you connect to the top of your lead/sinker called "lead lifts" available. When you reel in these keep your lead above the rocks and weed etc. I saw a guy using them one time and he reckoned they worked a treat. I think Breakaway Tackle make them. Hope this helps.
