No problem! Look in second-hand bookshops to find a copy of "Sea Angling with the Baited Spoon", by "Seangler" (John Garrad). The book distils 50 years of experiment with the baited spoon, in and around the solent, and the Isle of Wight, and was published in 1960, and most of the manufactured spoons were made on the Isle of Wight by Percy Wadhams tackle firm. MY first edition cost me £5 from a church bazaar at a small Scottish town on the west coast near Gareloch. Original cost...18 shillings, worth every penny, and well worth hunting for a copy, for 100 years of experience distilled. I lived on the IOW 1960-1964, and caught dozens of flounders from Bembridge harbourmouth using baited spoon with ragworm bait and a celluloid white spoon. Good luck, ask secondhand book dealers if they can source a copy for you....might cost, but the info is worth it.

I use spoons quite a lot ,I normally use a running ledger with 12" to the spoon then another 7 inches to the hook , I put a few beads in between the hook and blade and just cast it out , every few minutes I'll wind in 4 or 5 turns and I've caught a lot of fish doing that , flounders , plaice , dabs , bass bream and mullet ... everything evil go for it , trail and error is the way mate .. Good luck

Look along the top row of the book cover to give you a clue; 2nd along the top row, and 4th along the bottom row is all you need to know....
I am assuming you already have the book?

It sounds like a flattie rig you've got. Beads and attractor blades. Bait it, chuck it out and leave it.

we put the spoon above the bait when flounder or plaice fishing , acts as an attractor, all you do is when you have cast out every 5 mins move the bait which moves the spoon which draws the fish to it by moving the sand, flat fish love the movement , try it , you will get good results....

This one is easy.

Hold in right or left hand.
Dip into pudding bowl full of apple crumble and custard.
When spoon is full lift out.
Place spoon in open mouth.
Close mouth and pull out the spoon.
Leave contents in mouth to savour.
Then swallow and repeat till bowl is empty.

Then ask for seconds. lol lol

Sorry op just my sense of humour.

you can fish a spoon from the shore or in harbours for flounders
put a swivel on spoon then tie a hook length around 1ft long
put a size 1-1/0 fine wire hook on
bait with ragworm.
fish it bouncing along the botton quite slowly.
you want the spoon too bounce along kicking up clouds of muck etc

the spoon is best if its metal,
if they're plastic spoons.tie it too a running ledger rig. only want about a 1 ounce bomb.
