How do you use spoons?

1258 Views 9 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  amp67
I bought a second hand rig wallet with some rigs in it and there was 2 with spoons on them. What exactly do you do with spoons? are you supposed to do jigging with them or just keep them still?

Please help!

No problem! Look in second-hand bookshops to find a copy of "Sea Angling with the Baited Spoon", by "Seangler" (John Garrad). The book distils 50 years of experiment with the baited spoon, in and around the solent, and the Isle of Wight, and was published in 1960, and most of the manufactured spoons were made on the Isle of Wight by Percy Wadhams tackle firm. MY first edition cost me £5 from a church bazaar at a small Scottish town on the west coast near Gareloch. Original cost...18 shillings, worth every penny, and well worth hunting for a copy, for 100 years of experience distilled. I lived on the IOW 1960-1964, and caught dozens of flounders from Bembridge harbourmouth using baited spoon with ragworm bait and a celluloid white spoon. Good luck, ask secondhand book dealers if they can source a copy for you....might cost, but the info is worth it.

Look along the top row of the book cover to give you a clue; 2nd along the top row, and 4th along the bottom row is all you need to know....
I am assuming you already have the book?
