I live in and fish Herne Bay a lot. Hamptons great for getting bait. (lug, maddies, peelers) but not so great for fishing. It's better away from Hampton toward swalecliffe but since the beach is right on a public prom/ walkway you'll get a lot of "have you caught anything yet Mr"!
The best Herne Bay has to offer in my opinion is Reculver and Bishopstone although the harbour arm can produce too.
Hope this helps!!

take a walk on a spring low. look for all the features (mainly gullies and sand bars), make notes of where they are and fish over them.

find your own spot and keep it quite, the only way to get away from the crowds.

Seasalter is closer to London and not troubled by the feather chuckers. Parking very close to the beach and free. Convenience shop across the road and toilet. Park by Seasalter Sailing Club.

Whitstable harbour wall is also an option and not heavily fished. Down the end of the wall you're tucked away. Free fishing (but paid parking).
