Is the new 525 Supermag Xtra too fast?

I'm in the market for a new beach fishing reel and I'm looking at the new 525 Supermag Xtra. I have a green Abu Mag Elite which is a lovely reel but I would like something with a faster retrieve. However, I found the original 525 Mag a little too fast. I don't want to fit my own magnets on the Mag Xtra. I cast about 120 yds over grass (OTG) at the moment. Do you think I'll be able to cast with the new Supermag Xtra straight out of the box?

the new supermags are supposed to be a little slower especially if you add the extra magnets .

but.. if you put thicker oil in the bearings you wont need to add them and you,ll have ample breaking.

you might find it a bit too fast straight from the box
The new range of Abu 6000's feature one with a fast retrieve.
Think it's around 6.1:1.

For clean ground fishing I really do love the Abu's.
I've looked at the new Abu's and I fancy the Hi Speed 6500 with the fast retrieve I just wonder if they are as sturdy as the Penns. They say the frame has been strengthened but as they are so new I suppose you'd have to take a chance.

Supermag Xtra come with all magnets already fitted.
Mag Xtra comes with extra magents & bearings in the box
Supermag Xtra; I had a few minor overruns at first, it would behave perfectly for a while and then suddenly tangle. now its fine, I now keep the mags almost fully on, probably doesn't get max distance out of it but at least its reliable, and gets as far as I need, over 100yards with bait.
Hope this helps

6.3:1:) and the orange and grey one is smart as fcuk
Although I love abus for clean ground and distance casting they no way in the same league as the penn 525 series for toughness and awesome retrieve speed and power. It all depends on what your priorities are. I have the original 525 mags that I use for fishing the clays ( on the holderness ) and the 6500 mag elites over the clean ground or when distance is a real issue, for the real heavy stuff and 35lb I use a slosh 30.
