Is this about right?

An ex-fishing buddy of mine, no longer interested,( and a bit crocked) has just dropped on me, a couple of reels......a Penn 525Mag. and a Daiwa 7ht Mag.....externally, they're in a bit of a state.

'just use 'em for as long as you like", was what he said.

They are both filled about three-quarters full and given a good strong flick of the thumb, they spin like hell for over 30 secs.

In his fishing years, he was a big lad.......but surely such free-spinning reels are way beyond the needs of practical fishing .... I dunno, I never had much to do with mag-reels, though on impulse, I bought a battleship of a Penn 970 mag when they were first out......not that it did me any good.

Perhaps tomorrow I will open up his 7HT mag and see what devilment lurks within.

Yup, the Penn is a USA made one.....and it may have worked much better had my mate removed a cracked-off lump of magnet that I found rattling around the left side......

But I've had some time to mull things over, ref the long spinning time of both these reels...and considering the chap was always over-fond of the long "wind-up' and it would not surprise me if the pogger had deliberately rigged things, just to make me wonder....I reckon he is probably laughing his head off...........nice one Billywill.
