Lure fishing for large pike has always been a passion of mine. So I have a loads of large jerkbaits and the rods needed to chuck these lures. Not the most subtle way of fishing but wondered if any of you had used these for bass from the shore?

Hi Singy, i tried jerkbaits for Bass a number of years ago. I tried large jerkbaits but didn't catch on them. I then tried smaller jerkbaits like the Odyssey pig Jr and Tiny slabsides hand made by Del Bennett. I landed a number of bass on these lures.
I still believe the large jerkbaits will work, but you have to use heavy gear to cast them out and that would take away the fun from a hard fighting bass. I wrote an article on fishing with these smaller jerkbaits lures in one of the Bass mags but can not remember what mag number or the year.

Cheers Steve. Many thanks for the reply. Love the action you can impart on them. But the rods I cast them with would be just as suited dropping a pound of lead off the side of a boat. :-D
