Hi Norrie I pmd the dates of them to you only last week or so?
Here it is so you dont delete it again!

The BE50BELCDE 50hp This is Belgian according to the EV site and made in 1986.
The 55 is 1976 according to Evinrude.
Dates and parts info here: http://epc.brp.com/default.aspx?brands=ej&lang=E&dealerlocator=no

My goodness so its not just fishing books you horde?

Ill give those numbers a browse on that link I gave you. It is a bit of an aquired art to get the info out of it.

LOL Dave...also got a couple more boats :):) Three in total....just in case mate,...you never know the minute :)

I did find that those sites were a tad awkward to glean the info !!! :)
The problem with the Evinrude site is they want the year and HP first then the rest is easy.
In reverse though without that year/hp info you have to go through each year trying to match up the number to hp to year.
It took 3 nights to find my motor to track down parts ref numbers. So dont hold your breath waiting on me finding the years quickly.
Anybody else? feel free to advise Norrie on his motors years.
Dave.

I think you have an engine made on contract for the RNLI . The numbers and letters don't tally with my lists, where you have NI in your number you should have one of the 2 letter combinations below. Prior to 1980 evinrudes used an all number system.

1980 - CS 1985 - CO 1990 - ES 1995 - EO
1981 - CI 1986 - CD 1991 - EI 1996 - ED
1982 - CN 1987 - CU 1992 - EN 1997 - EU
1983 - CT 1988 - CC 1993 - ET 1998 - EC
1984 - CR 1989 - CE 1994 - ER 1999-EE

Hi Chris on the side of my motor the Evinrude EV50RNLIC one. On the leg it says in red ISE-50 then below that 5.96. Is that just a ref to the HP and capacity?
And ref the RNLI contract motors. Whats the difference in those from a std EV50 of that period?

Dunno is the simple answer. EP Barrus were the suppliers to the RNLI at the time, perhaps you could inquire with them?
