Cant see thepoint in that might as well stay on the beach and cast out.
Oxwich is probably the safest and easiest starting out and you will always catch something in the bay

in the middle of the ebb or flood on a neap tide, you will need about 3 horsepower shoulders, if you go mid tide on a big spring tide you will need 5-6 horsepower shoulders, & if you go through the "Oxwich Race" just off the point, you will require some serious sized cahones as well. I would advise you to stay inside the point until you are competent in using your kayak, & you know more about the area & its dangers, there is USUALLY somebody in a boat about to help if things go tits up, but you cant always rely on that. :marinheir:

Yo Jimi,

At our annual SWKA kayak angling festival a couple of weeks back www.swka.org.uk) 70 folk from all over the country fished out of Oxwich on competition day and caught 23/24 species.

Conger - 20lb+
Common & Starry Smouthhound 10lb+
Tub, Grey & Red Gurnard
Ballan, Cuckoo, Corkwing and even a Gold Sinney Wrasse
Codling
Pouting
Pollack
Whiting
Black Bream
Dab
Flounder
Plaice
Dogfish
Bull Huss
Garfish
Mackerel
Scorpion Fish
Goby

There was also a ray lost kayak side. No bass caught in the comp tho a youngster did pitch up at the tent with one over 6lbs.

And there are more than that in the bay too!

Baits and tactics? Anything & Everything!

So not a bad place to fish Oxwich. Stay away from the point as Blueskip advises and medium tides easier to fish than big springs especially on the drift. Most of the fish above came from around the moorings or wreck.

SWKA guys are out there regularly all year round - come join us bud.

the wreck is located to the right hand side of the bay follow the rock line until you reach a part of the rock face that says W which has been sprayed on using white paint its about half way out beetween the point and the church. and about 100m off the rocks. the reefs are located about 150m from the point. easy to find just ask people when your out.....
