And no it's not an April Fool!!! Weather report was spot on, wind dying off during the day, claggy in the morning, brightening up in the afternoon, so took a day off work for the first kayak session of the year. Armed with fresh black and sand worms, frozen sandeel and frozen crab, inshore marks fished having launched off Earnsea Bay.

First four hours wish I hadn't bothered! only three small bites resulting in three small dabs, pretty murky weather. Then as it started to brighten up and the tide turned to ebb, as has happened before the fishing picked up. Next four hours got 28 fish; 9 plaice, 3 very small codling, 2 LSD's (yippee first of the year!) and the rest dabs. Beautiful sunset, sea like a mill pond, great like that when you're out on the kayak.

Again frozen peeler produced nothing (doing something wrong when freezing it me thinks!), majority of fish fell for sandworms with a strip of sandeel on the end. All fish returned alive, little disgorger brilliant at getting the hooks out of flatties leaving them unharmed, and small full round hooks also help. Probably missed 15-20 bites as well during the middle ebb. All in all a great day out! :fishing1:

Cheers John, bass are definitely starting to appear. JD lost one at the edge about three weeks ago, giving it a go today up the coast somewhere, wind not ideal but who dares wins!!! See you soon.
