Has anyone had any success using lamprey as a sea bait?I tried some the other night,I thought since it was full of blood and worked so well for pike that it should work for skate and doggies-didnt get a bite all night:schmoll:

Horrible things they are too:yucky: :yucky: :yucky:

Dont get many of them on our beachs unfortunately mate,I wish we did though:)

I thought they would have been good for the tope we get in summer but apparently some of the local anglers, and these are seriously good anglers, have tried them without any luck, but have caught once they switched to mackeral.

A good early season Tope bait mate. Also try dab and flounder (live or in strips) for the early season tope in some more estuarine areas. Underated but can all work well for the first run of smaller male Tope.
