The Lochryan species hunt took place over the weekend of the 26th and 27th of July throughout Wigtownshire.
With anglers registering at 9am on the Saturday and not returning until Sunday at 5pm there was plenty of time to try any number of venues.
For once the weather was ideal and a few competitors managed to fish the full 32 hours without sleep .
The winner with eight species was D.Goupillot, second equal were G.Richardson,W.Hannay jnr. and R.Garrett with seven species each.
With most anglers reporting large numbers of under size fish returned the count could have been much higher this year.
This years competition was held in memory John (Jock) Boyd so the association decided to donate half of the entry fees to the pallative care unit in Stranraer. Lochryan have raised £120 so far from entry fees and kind donations and are planning to make next years` event much bigger.
The next fixture will be a pegged competition at Craigenarget on the 17th of August, registration is at 5pm until 5.15pm at the venue.
