Hi all

Read the excellent post on making lead weights.
Found some old moulds at a boot sale, and bought a chunk of lead flashing from the local scrap dealer.

After purchasing, he informs me that it is illegal to use lead weights for fishing, someone else told me the same.

Can someone put me straight on this, as I thought that was only lead split shot that was a no no.

any help will be appreciated

Thanks

lead weights between a No.8 shot and 1oz are illegal as far as I know.

Smaller than a No.8 or bigger than 1oz, lead is permitted.

Most split shot apart from the tiny dust shot are now non-toxic.

I have just made a new batch of weights but I do not recall that I have ever had my gear inspected.

Keep making them, save some cash and enjoy.

This is my understanding too, I stand to be corrected but I'm pretty sure it's anything more than 28gms or less than 0.1gm is OK (not that sure on the lower figure).
