hi every1, just to let u all no, that if you av a lidl store by you, it may be well worth going along today and having a browse at all the cheap fishing gear that is onoffer, i went myself with the wife and birdsnest, lendusaworm has also been, they av rods reels, wet gear, stools, perks and lures, rod stand, hats, waders, i am not saying everything may be top quality, but try the boxed set of 3 filletin knives, with 50lb scales, a cutting board, and a pen knife with 10 gadgets on it, all that for £4.99. just thought a few of you may be interested, happy shopping all........

Just returned from the local Lidl store and picked up a couple of rod rests, a few spools of 8kg mono, a landing net, the 3 knife fillet set(with scales and multifunction penknife),and a multi drawed fishing box. As stated earlier not the very best of quality but certainly functional and best of all cheap as chips.
On Saturday i picked up a brilliant headlamp with 3 settings available plus a flash facility(for what ever that is for i'm not sure unless you fall in the water), it also boasts a battery status meter, all for £19.99 and the output is very good as well lol.

Glad you all got bargains and hope you all get good use from them but what happens when the smaller tackle shops are put out of business by the likes of Lidl and Argos.Cant see any of those places selling peeler and rag.
Just a thought.

end of the day terry,,they sell these items for a week or so,,and then they have different bargains the next week,,

its not likely that they will ever stock with fishing stuff again this year..

So not really a worry

That's a good point, you know I was at Lidl today and picked up a load of gear for about £55. I am sure if I had gone to an angling specialist the same quantity of gear would have cost at least twice that  . That said I am under no illusions that the quality would almost certainly have been better.

The difficult question is this; what are we meant to do if we dont have the money so spend on expensive kit? These offers dont come around very often so when they do I for one will make the most of them :D .

One final word from me is that despite spending so little for so much today, I still have spent more money than that in the specialist shops over the last month  .

I hope it is all worth it!! :)

Cheers,

Shad.

Like i said,,(and i know this for a fact!)

Lidls only stock these items for 1 week,,a few weeks back they had horse riding equipment,,few weeks before that they had widescreen tv's and dvd players..

I recently bought a Laptop pc from there for £999..In PC world,,same spec machine was listed as £1499,Dell had a similar machine listed at £1579

They will not restock again this year!!

SO i feel that no angling business is really in any jeopardy..

SO no worries

Fair point Marcus but from what I have seen, some of the gear....some, not all,is poor quality and I saw a keepnet that was just plain dangerous for any unlucky fish that might end up in it. Also , at shops like this....there is no-one to give advice before buying so some poor mug might buy tackle completely useless for the purpose intended and become disheartened. Another person lost to this sport we love so much.Another person that might have ended upputting a few bob in the pockets of the local tackle shops.

I bought one of the Lidl fishfinders at £29.99, yet on e-bay there is a guy selling exactly the same model & its currently at £43! with a "buy it now" price of £80! Yet there is another outlet selling the identical model at £25.99! So at Lidl's £29.99 I have gained on the swings, but lost on the roundabout!
Looking at it, I could have done better on e-bay, with a better model at the same price, "u gets wot u pays for"
