My mate (Phil the bass) saw two porpoises working Little Haven and assumed that they were after whiting. Must have been lots of them to attract two big predators like that. Damn right! None bigger than 6 ozs going down to 1.5 ozs. If they ban trawling then the stocks will recover pretty quickly by the looks of it. In the meantime I'm selling my beachcasters and investing in a roach pole if this is the stamp of fish we can expect around here.

(I have seriously considered getting a carp pole for next summer. There are wrasse, pollack and mullet out there and I do miss my coarse fishing. Certainly we will be trying swimfeedering where appropriate. It just doesn't make sense not doing it when distance casting is not generally an issue).
