Had planned on fishing with Blueskip and watersblue yesterday but ended up spending money. Today looked better weather and with a good surf running picked up some crab, maddies and blood razor.

Met up with Herbie from the forum, nice to meet you hope to see you fishing the short arm this winter.

We started fishing just after two, had two rods one with maddies, small hooks and light fluorocarbon looking for g greys. The second rod big crab bait for whatever wanted to eat it.

3 hours and nothing, the tide had turned and I thought the recent reports from llangennith were showing a trend in hard fishing.

Then an hour into the flood my light set up heads west. A nice flounder.

Decided to change to my flounder rigs with 20lb fluorocarbon snoods instead of 10lb on the mullet rig and bigger hooks size 2.

First cast a golden grey! Fished three hours without a touch with small hooks and light line then first cast with my flounder rig a mullet. Next cast another golden grey:victory:

Then had a fish a cast until it was time to head home. Ended up with 2 small bass, two golden grey mullet and two flounder.

When I left, Herbie had two lovely flounder.

Now looking foward to the meet on the 5th September. May ditch the fly rod and fish maddies as normal.

Cheers for the replies, lets hope the mullet are still there to make the 5th Sept meet as good as last year. I enjoy catching flounder as much as any fish (today's catch currently cooking in a frying pan) I have had some good flounder this year from llangennith. Would not be surprised to see a 2lb plus flounder turn up in the meet.

lucky git, marc. i knew i should have come with you and not vic lol! well done, mate. good session there.
It was strange text book mullet rigs nowt, changed to 20lb snoods still fluorocarbon and bigger hooks two mullet in two casts.

Must have hit a shoal, the only other difference was more maddies on the hook bigger bait?

i don't think maddies create the greatest scent trail, so it might have been, especially if the water was still murky.
