Well went fishing over the weekend at Loch Etive Fri 13th,Sat 14th,Sun 15th. I had the intention of
camping but when i got there seen the ground was soaked so ended up booking in
to a hotel Falls of Lora in Connell which is kind of handy, it was a good hotel
though.
So the first day friday i headed up to the slip by the quarry and i was hoping
to maybe get a thornie or two. Things didn't go as planned hours spent feeding
crabs it seems they were the only thing on the feed. The bait was
squid, mackie, bluey and crabs none of which worked.I actually took the car down
with the gear dropped it of then struggled to get back out again to park in
quarry car park.
Saturday i headed out up towards Taynuilt pier but the wind was a bit rough and
i would have got blown of it i looked over to the slip and wind was hitting
that badly too. I then headed down to the windsock but the wind was blowing
along there too so i headed back towards Taynuilt and seen a sign for Airds bay
and took a drive down. It was calm enough to fish on a beach i found. But this
too din't bring me any fish. It was the first time i had fished there but it
didn't seem that deep and mainly sandy. I think this might be a beach for
smaller hooks during the summer time.
The sunday saw me take of over to the priory. If you're interested it's up for
sale and a sign i have never noticed in car park ..visitors only..I fished this
into the dark hoping to get something out of this trip but to no avail another
blanker. The only thing i got there was a rock withn a fair bit of weed which i
thought might have been a fish. I was using the same baits at all three places.
So a trip with no fish but it was the wind that was a bit of putting where ever
you went it was basically blowing at you. I had to head into Oban to get myself
another flask after dropping it. I did see an angling shop there but i note
that is up for sale too. Another thing i noticed was a petrol station between
Connel and Oban which has outside washing machines handy if you're camping.I
know when i was camping i used to head into Oban because of the showers there
on the north pier which was handy.
All in all not a great trip but with me driving about around the Loch seen
parts i have never seen before. Hopfully when i go over again it will be a bit
warmer and at least a few fish to show.
