Hi All,

Took the kayak out for a paddle in Loch Striven today. Plenty of fish around:

Several Pollock between 1 & 4lbs from the craggy rocks close to shore.
Dozens of small Codling from a few ounces to about a pound taken from the raft.
More Mackerel than I could count - some of them were actually bumping into the boat as they were swimming along!!

All fish returned alive

Which side are the rocks at where you were catching the pollack? I was thinking of cycling round from Colintraive and would be on the west side.

Hiya,

The craggy rocks are on the west side of the loch near the head. There is a house at the head of the loch with a road layby next to it.

Walk along the beach past the house and keep going - eventually you will see a raft moored just offshore - just past that raft is the start of the craggy rocks. They then extend for about a mile along the shore.

There are some deep gullies right in front of you at certain points and if you keep casting and moving you will find them. These gullies seem to hold the Pollock. There were also loads of Mackerel in the loch.

I would imagine it's a 15 - 20 minute walk. It's hard to tell as I use a kayak for my fishing.

Good luck
