I've just become the proud owner of a 16' GRP project & I'm on the lookout for a cheap(ish) 15hp longshaft outboard, suitable for hooking up to a remote steering/throttle kit, prefferably a four stroke but anything considered. Free fishing trip to whoever can lead me to a successful purchase !!

Yes Four strokes are more economical
Take a look at the following site :-

http://fishing_boats.tripod.com

I personally have a yamaha 80 AETL very nice motor with an easy flushing system, but it is not one of the cheapest..

Just one small question 16 Foot and only 15 HP the motor seems a bit small for the boat

Happy Fishing

Ah, I've since been informed that it'll quite happily take upto a 25hp

Some one might disagree but Engines should be run at 3/4 throttle for a good cruising speed / Fuel consumption.

A small motor will need to be run a full throttle.

Its always nice to know that you have the extra power when you need it.

I know as before I had a 12ft grp with a 10 HP and it was a little short on power.

Where do you plan to fish ?
