Bradwell Report 18TH September 2010

After almost a fortnight of wind, wind and more wind, we at last were able to get a days fishing in. From what I had been able to glean from others however I did not hold out too much expectations. But hey when it’s such a good forecast it would be rude not to take advantage, so Jeff, Dave, Peter, Steve and myself left the Marina at about 8-30am, and went due East for about an hour and a half, and set the hook in 43 feet of water. Hoping that we might find the odd Bass we had a hundred prime lug, along with the usual squid and mackerel for bait. I opted to fish exclusively with lug the others did as they pleased and of course it was the squid that did the business, they boated 20 of these between them

and two of these.

Peter had a great time again.

Dave got a couple of hounds but they were not very big,

I did manage my Bass but it was a tiddler and went back straight away, as did most of the fish today, we kept four skate and a couple of dogs, Dave wanted to taste what they are like.

The weather remained as forecast and we all enjoyed a glorious day. No problems or breakdowns to report.

Good report and piccys John, yes it was a glorious day, I was a guest on a friends boat today out of Brightlingsea today and we tried a favourite bass mark only 1 around 2lb, so after a couple of hours of the ebb we decided to try a deeper water mark to see if any of the first codling were showing yet, found the usual doggies and some half decent whiting but no coddies, tried a favoured skate mark on the last hour of the ebb, but nothing doing there either, so headed back in at 3pm with enough for a good supper and a brown face, can't be bad.

Good report & pictures as usual John, shame there is no picture of the chocolate gateau though. Why has Peter got his hand aloft, is it a new signal thats he's ready for the picture or just hurry up i want to take a pee !

Looks like another beautiful day out there John, i have been assured that i will be allowed out after my return from sunnier climates, providing i dont miss behave, with all the free booze that may be a hard target.
Lets hope there will be a few codling will be around by then.

Although it looks smooth there was the odd rouge that could and did catch you off balance, Peter had already taken a tumble, so we insisted that he sat down or held onto something, as the day wore on on it all subsided and by the time we were home it was flat calm.
