has anyone ever tried poppers or surface lures on a calm night from the shore , its just that years ago a friend of mine caught quite a lot of quality bass on live pout or big makeral baits fished ultra close (10 yards max) and i am sure the bass would still come in at night , but it would be much easier and you could cover more ground with lures , i am thinking large williams style poppers , any ideas?

There's heaps of posts on here about lure fishing at night.
It certainly works well, even with no moon or other available light source.
Poppers will catch to but as ever, the trick for fishing in low light conditions is to try to slow things down a bit.
