A few weeks ago I'm sure there was a thread about Macky being caught in Torquay area off the shore, don't know personally as i'm still waiting for them to show on North Cornwall shore myself, bait freezer empty, cleaned and ready for another year lol, they normally come in north coast April/May
I was about to start a thread on the same subject. Does anyone know if mackerel have started to show at Porthkerris yet? Not ususally my 'thing' mackerel bashing, but I have an old friend from when I was growing up coming down to see me from London next week and he want to go and do a bit of fishing. He has a young daughter so wants to go somewhere that we stand a good chance of not blanking so she can catch her first fish - thought of this as the mark with the best chance of success. Fortunately I have the Tues & Wed off so shouldn't be fighting for a space.
I think that they don't really leave the Torquay area! I don't try for them myself but a couple of guys i know caught a few from Torquay pier last week. If they are around then fish pretty deep for them until the weather gets warmer.
