Not until the first run of Yellowfin Tuna in the Thames....are the mackerel in yet?....
If your using feathers 3 to 4 oz is average, but it can be brought up if you need to get more distance, but a word of warning, the cheap sets of feathers are made of cheap material, so if you go to heavy on the weight you will get crack offs, if your using a spinner depending on weight you might need to add an ounce or so.What's the best weight to use for makky fishing please ?
a long one.......What's the best weight to use for makky fishing please ?
BR used to use long ones but I think they use short ones now ?? but can't be sure ?? I know LT complained about the complaints they were getting as regards the long ones and had to start using short ones, but I have received notification through the grape vine that they wish to go back to the long ones ?? so we will just have to weight and see !!a long one.......
Well I followed everones advice and after a short weight (found that best as it saves the weighting around!) and using cut up pieces of council workers jacket on a skyhook size cloud9 on a mark that I cant tell you about as its top secret I pulled in this. I think they are a little bigger at this time of the season and its alway nice to get the first one of the year. I did try for its big brother using live Bass on a 27/0 circle, but no luck. Going back tomorrow to see if there are any Blue Fin Tuna. I will sport fish them with my fly rod using herring feathers.are the mackerel in yet?....
I think Lucky strike 2 might have it about right, with his method for spinning ?? I do like like the sound of a bell weight which thinking about it rings a bell somewhere along the line that they used to be used very effectively off the beach because of the different tones they could put out, which in it's self was an attractant to the fish, but then of course fashion changes and then the long weights started to be fashionable.Well I followed everones advice and after a short weight (found that best as it saves the weighting around!) and using cut up pieces of council workers jacket on a skyhook size cloud9 on a mark that I cant tell you about as its top secret I pulled in this.
