I am looking for a margin pole for carp and wonder what you have and what you think to them. I have heard mixed reviews on both Daiwa Yank n Bank and also Shimano Beastmasters. Any others that are an out and out beast pole?

Thanks

Hi mate ,don't get a margin pole ,unles it's over 10 mtrs long ,I see the pro and cons on my match circuit ,always better to buy a 11 meter pole with at least 2 spare top 2 s with puller bungs fitted ,margin fishing can be buy your feet or better in the next empty peg ,no such luck for me ,I've bin drawing bad of late lol I see so meny ppl fishing close with sort poles ( under 8 mtrs ) with strong elastic ,spooking fish with all that splashing and pulling out ,really need strong elastic ,the more u pull the harder the fish pulls ,what you won't is to hook a fish and let it swim out ,away from your swim ,so you can feed ,then play for netting away from your feeding fish ,I've had carp up to 26 pounds buy my feet ,with my faverate Preston red size 11 red or green size 15 hollow, good pole to look at at chapmans are strong arm maver only £129 spare top 2 only £34,99 ,maver respect Diawa tdxr1 ,browning snipper and a good one is a black magic ,fish g can not swim towards you ,and if you hook a lump you can keep in tuch with it with your spare ,buy your side sections ,if you ars fishing at 7/8 meters with a 8/9 meter pole fish can bottom you out with m no pole left ,so a 11 metre is the way forward ,and just because a pole says it can handle size 20 laci you will never need it ,hope this helps see you soon for a sesh when the smuts are in :clap2::clap3:

If I could afford one, I'd have a Tri-cast Trilogy XRS rated to 25+ elastic. Comes in at 9 metres with options of 2 extensions taking it to 12 metres. The strongest margin pole on the market, but not cheap.

I've heard mixed reviews on the Yank n Bank. A few of the earlier models were prone to breaking sections, but I believe the later ones are O.K.

I have the Shimano Beastmaster 8.5 meter rated to 20+ elastic which does for me at the venues I fish.
It is very light and stiff as the proverbial poker. You could fish it one handed all day long.
I've put red hydro through both top kits on stora bungs and this copes with fish up to low doubles. For anything bigger I prefer rod and line.
I can't see the point of using puller bungs on a margin pole as this type of fishing (take no prisoners) is usually next to snags and you need to hit and hold to stop fish getting getting into the snags. (Just my opinion).
Rig line is .22 or .24 with either Fox match extra ( no longer available but I bought a shedload a couple of years ago) or Kamazan Animal hooks in sizes 12 to 8 depending on bait size. These are tied direct to the main line with NO hook length as I don't want extra knots as potential weak points.
I hope this info is of some use and good luck with whatever you decide to get.

Cheers for the info guys.

Threeachuck...looking forward to the smuts and there have been the odd ones caught already..just needs to warm up. Regarding 11metre poles i already have a Daiwa at 16m but was looking for something to hit and move from snags.

Elmer Fudd thanks for the info bud.

Both of you have said two poles i am considering and those being the Maver Strongarm and the Tricast XRS 2k4.

Appreciate the time lads.
