Hi Folks, I'll be doing a bit of casual boat fishing with a family member around the Medway main channel off Gillingham this Autumn and I'm wondering if I'm likely to pick anything up on small deep water lures ie paddle tails, slow pitch jigs etc or does it need to be bait.

A small Smooth Hound was taken on Squid at one of the likely marks recently if that helps.

Thanks in advance! (y)

Delighted to say I got lucky with this little Tub Gunard using a slow pitch jig at the end of our 4 hr trip over high water !! :D

Up until that point it had been dogfish during the last of the flood, one of which was a lesser spotted

and many Pouting for the bait Anglers who were using Squid then Mackerel strips (y)

The Dogfish were on just Squid. Amazed how much life was there, any bait hard on the bottom had two or three crabs on it very quickly!
