Iam moving from Cardiff to Bridgend soon and would like some info on Merthyr Mawr as it will be my local beach.
I havent been there since i was a kid,so know very little about it.Where if anywhere is the best place to fish?iam right in thinking they hit lots of flatties off there?Any help would be great.thanx

Assuming you mean the Ogmore Estuary rather than the beach. If so, yes plenty of flatties. Also the pebble beach and rock ledges on the Village side of the river are a good place, but fishing in the daytime in summer is a no-no. Too many tourists, best done at night and at dawn, the river can be fished any time of day, the holidaymakers rarely go up there.

merthyr mawr got a pritty good dipping bridge didnt know they fished there i think your on about ogmore estuary/beach
