Yes, the beach in front of the lifeboat Station, it's called Gasworks beach can be fished at al states of the tide. Whether it's a good mark depends on the day.
It depends on the state of the tide, at low you can be on the sand and at high you will need to cast a reasonable distance, not record-breaking stuff , I'm not a big caster but haven't lost much tackle there. I used to fish alongside the wall by the harbour, the height of the wall above the beach depends on recent storm activity; it can be just right to lean your rods against and from there you can cast at '2 o'clock' when facing down the wall to fish over clean ground. You will need heavy grip leads on the ebb there as the tide drags back around the corner.Long casts see clearer ground then? Not something i'm great at![]()
What exact part was u?Gasworks didn't go that well for me. Had a couple of hand size cod and lost a couple of fish in the rocks (maybe dogfish).
Talking to the guys in tackle shop on Saturday, they told me there have been some big cod caught down by watchet, off the shore, 20 lb plus.Is there any marks at Minehead that fish well over low? I'll be down there at the weekend.
Am I right in saying the beach to the West of the harbor is a good mark?
