Yep: distance, thinner diameter means strong tides have less of an impact, better bite indication, line twist no longer becomes such an issue.

I just got some braid for my shockleader and I rekon thats what I'll be using for my main line aswell in future. Braid is sexy.

It is not a good idea to use braid as a shock leader as it has no stretch to absorb the shock use mono shock leader on braid but not the other way around
